JEP: Judgment Event Protocol

An open structural specification for recording responsibility in human–AI decision systems. Stewarded by HJS Foundation.

What is JEP

JEP (Judgment Event Protocol) defines a minimal structural model for recording responsibility relationships in AI-mediated systems.

It enables traceable, verifiable records of who decided what, who delegated to whom, and how outcomes were verified.

JEP is a public technical standard, not a commercial product.

Design Principles

  • Minimal Structure — Only essential primitives
  • Deterministic Validation — Same input, same result
  • Open Accessibility — No proprietary dependencies
  • Long-term Stability — Structural invariants preserved
